Chicago Music Library attends "Fading West" premiere

This evening our own Marrsha Sill and Nick Castelli will be attending a premiere (at the Clive Davis Grammy Museum) of “Fading West”, a film that follows one of our favorite musical groups - Switchfoot. The film will be a mixture between a surf documentary, travelogue, and a behind-the-scenes sneak peak of their upcoming album (which we are stoked to hear). Since 1996, when the band was formed, Switchfoot has developed an amazing bond as musical partners and as friends. According to the origin of the group name, “Switchfoot” is actually a surfing term.

In an interview in September of 2000, Foreman stated “"We all love to surf and have been surfing all our lives so to us, the name made sense. To switch your feet means to take a new stance facing the opposite direction. It's about change and movement, a different way of approaching life and music."

The group made their start in the Contemporary Christian music scene with Re:Think Records. In 2002 when their music was featured in the hit film “A Walk to Remember ”, which attracted a great amount of attention in the music industry. Eventually the group signed with Columbia Records/SongBMG and released “The Beautiful Letdown”. Since then the group has released four more albums and is set to release “Fading West” in October of this year.

Nick and Marrsha are very excited to be apart of the premiere. The group members will give a special introduction of the film, which will take the experience to a whole new level. We are extremely happy for “Switchfoot” and anticipate great things from their new album.
